Research Help

IST101, research, and the MCCC Library

Greetings! Though the focus of IST101 is not on research, there is a research component to the course that will necessitate that you use some of the MCCC Library's resources to successfully complete your coursework. This LibGuide is designed to help you access and use the library's resources.

In the tab above you will be able to find out:

  • How to be a more effective searcher of computer based information using both library databases as well as when searching the internet.
  • How to access the MCCC Library's online resources both on and off of the college's campus
  • How to focus your database searches to find the information you need.
  • How to format your references page in the APA style.

IMPORTANT! IST101 uses a number of preset topics. You will be assigned to use one of these topics for your research throughout the course. Before you begin your research read your assigned topic in it's entirety. Thoroughly understanding what you are researching is the first step to effective and efficient research.

If need any help with your research or locating specific sources, just ask. It's what the library does best.

You may also use the box to the left to chat with a college librarian or send an email to library@mccc.edu for more research assistance.
